I am reminded of many days sat around conference tables with colleagues from each of the local health and care organisations as we tried to storm our way through the latest centrally required mandate to work together. In those days, the phrase ‘sovereign organisation’ would be mentioned at some point in every meeting. There was a wariness to how we worked together and understanding where the boundaries were was important.

San Joaquin County has 22 set sites for testing, as well as popup sites that can be found on its website, http://www.sjready.org. There are 14 Stockton sites – including one at each of the four Stockton Unified School District high schools – and there are clinics in Lodi, Tracy, Manteca, Lathrop and Escalon.
“Our main goal is to mitigate the disease in the county,” Singson said. “Besides the fixed sites, we try to bring tests to those who need them and might not be able to get to them.”
The county website addresses the cost of testing at the top of the front page with this statement: “In California, if you have health insurance you are required to provide your health insurance information to be tested. You will not be charged a co-pay. Most health insurance plans will cover the full cost of testing, at no expense to you. If you don t have insurance, you will not be charged for the services provided.”
