Carla na Nagara is the first director of the Suicide Prevention Office, a post she took up in October 2019. Before that she was a coroner for 12 years. Her interest in death dates to her time at Victoria University in Wellington. When studying for her honours degree in sociology, she looked into how people were treated in death.
