“There is poetry to starting where we left off.”
These words from Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Broadway Programming Marc Fleming are a perfect way to describe the return of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series. It will kick off with “The Band’s Visit” the final show to play the Benedum Center before much of its run was canceled in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
“More than half of the audience members who purchased tickets were unable to attend the show in 2020 due to the shutdown, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring the show back to complete its run and raise the curtain again for Broadway in the Cultural District,” Fleming said in a statement.

After being held virtually in 2020 because of the pandemic, the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will be returning this year with some in-person events, it was announced Thursday morning.
Opening June 4 and wrapping up June 14, the festival will still have online elements, but festival mainstays like live concerts and an artist market will be back, though in altered formats. Sponsored by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, it will mark the first time in more than a year that some of the Cultural Trustâs theaters, galleries and arts venues will have their doors open.
âThe biggest change for the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival in 2021 is the layout and footprint,â according to Sarah Aziz, the festivalâs director.

Part of Fort Duquesne Boulevard will close for five months to make room for more events in Downtown Pittsburgh, city officials said Thursday.
The closure will begin Monday and run through Oct. 7. The boulevard’s westbound lane the side closer to the river will be blocked off from Stanwix Street to Seventh Street.
The partial closure of the roadway along the Allegheny River will allow the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership to “host various events and activities to boost business in the Central Business District,” Tim McNulty, spokesman for Mayor Bill Peduto’s office, said in a statement.
