Crawley man charged with attempted murder of police officer remains in custody
A man charged with the attempted murder of a police officer in Crawley has been further remanded in custody.

Officers were called to West Green Drive around 9.35am on Thursday December 17 following concerns for a man in possession of a knife, said police.
When challenged by police, the suspect allegedly attempted to stab an officer – who was wearing a protective vest – in the chest, before he was safely detained.
A spokesman added: “During this time, the same officer suffered a minor laceration to his hand and was treated at the scene.

A LAWYER has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer. Police were called to West Green Drive, Crawley, at about 9.35am on Thursday to “concerns for a man in possession of a knife”. While detaining the man, an officer suffered a “minor laceration” to his hand and was taken to hospital for treatment. Jack Chao, 37, a solicitor of West Green Drive, Crawley, was charged with attempted murder yesterday. He will appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today.
