Tahoe Women s Community Fund grants 14 non-profits with total of $100,000

The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund (TWCF) has announced its 2021 grant recipients. This year, 14 non-profit organizations in the South Shore Community were funded for a total of $100,000. Normally the funds are handed out during a Grants Gala, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions, it has been canceled. It its place will be a virtual presentation over a two-week period, starting around May 20. Project summaries of all recipients are available on the TWCF website, tahoewomenscommunityfund.org. Focus Grant Recipients in the category of Poverty, Housing, or Basic Needs): • Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (Project Prevent & Connect – $10,000) • Tahoe Prosperity Center (Housing Tahoe Partnership – $10,000)

Cathy Baehr They are Janis Keene, the head of the student teaching program at NMHU, a former teacher and girls basketball coach at Rio Rancho Elementary, with 40 years in education; Cathy Gaarden, a former principal at Maggie Cordova and Sandia Vista elementaries, with 37 years in education; and Cathy Baehr, the former principal at Enchanted Hills Elementary, with 35 years in the profession.

Tahoe Soroptimists to host 32nd annual Elegant Evening

Staff Report SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA The Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra is hosting its 32nd annual Elegant Evening fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 23. The virtual, online event includes music from Lake Tahoe’s favorite musicians, entertainment from a master magician and Lake Tahoe’s Shining Stars, a dance lesson from the comfort of your home, and a silent auction with hundreds of donations from local businesses as well as unique experiences. Musicians Trey Stone, The Connor Party, Carolyn Dolan, Ike and Martin, Tori Martin, Jakota Wass and Darren Senn will be performing, along with Master Magician Joel Ward.
