AUBURN â The Community Foundation of DeKalb County has hired Kathleen Alter as its new director of community engagement and leadership.
Alter brings extensive executive management experience, the foundation said. Her business expertise includes a focus on policy creation and implementation, fiscal management, accreditation compliance, fundraising and grant writing, event planning, public relations, human resources and marketing.
She is the former executive director of the Three Rivers Festival, French Quarter Festivals in New Orleans, Louisiana, Cityfolk in Dayton, Ohio, and the Womenâs Bureau. She also has worked for the American Medical Holistic Association in Cleveland, Ohio, where she planned its biannual medical conference, and Fort Wayne Newspapers, where she planned all special events.

NEW ORLEANS – French Quarter Festivals, Inc., (FQFI) the non-profit organization that produces French Quarter Festival presented by Chevron, issued a Thursday (Jan. 14) morning release announcing dates for its 2021 festival.
According to the release, the much-anticipated event is currently scheduled to take place this fall, from September 30 through October 3. In 2022, officials expect the French Quarter Festival to return to its traditional April date.
CEO of FQFI, Emily Madero addressed the new dates, saying, “Although French Quarter Fest typically takes place in April, the ongoing COVID crisis has made it necessary for us to remain flexible.”
