The Swiss federal government plans to introduce a COVID-19 certificate by the summer, which would be compulsory in order to access places of worship in the country. A public consultation process is underway.
The Swiss Evangelical Alliance (SEA•RES) has rejected this measure, stating that “worship is an expression of our religious freedom to assemble and should not be regulated by identity checks of any kind.”
They point out in a statement that such regulation “would be disproportionate, as the evangelical churches have implemented other effective coronavirus protection measures from the outset.

German-speaking Switzerland less critical of 5G expansion
The 5G wireless standard is a less polarising issue among the Swiss population than thought. According to a survey conducted by ETH researchers, the majority of people are in favour of 5G. However, a substantial portion of the population in the French-speaking region had concerns about electromagnetic radiation.

What does the Swiss population think about 5G expansion? Political scientists at ETH sought to answer this question through a representative survey conducted in the summer of 2020. The researchers published their results (see box) under the auspices of the Swiss Environment Panel, a collaboration between ETH and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN).

A survey on the ongoing rollout of 5G in Switzerland found the population fairly evenly divided on the issue, with those holding extreme positions in the minority.

Some 13% of the 7,000 respondents polled were “strongly opposed” to 5G, while 11% were “strongly in favour”, wrote the Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich on Tuesday.
In the middle of these extreme camps, 27% were “rather in favour” and 24% “rather against”. A quarter of respondents were undecided.
