New Braunfels Utilities and the city of New Braunfels will continue to operate a water station this week after the utility lifted its boil water notice on Sunday.
As some Comal County residents return to a state of normal, there are still many struggling with burst pipes and other plumbing issues.
Along with the utility crews who have been working day and night during and after the storms, plumbers are out repairing the breaks, cracks and leaks.

Itâs the family business. His dad, Thomas Siry, is the owner.
âItâs definitely been some long, long days,â Nickolas Siry said. âThe jobs themselves are really, really tough. Service calls arenât the same as a normal service call. Itâs multiple repairs, multiple breaks. You can get to one customer and find out you might be there half the day changing out broken pipes so itâs definitely really hard to schedule. Thatâs probably the hardest part. We got so many customers. Other than that, itâs nice to be back at work.â
6 inches of snowfall throughout the day Thursday.
Precipitation totals during the record-setting weeklong event were not immediately available from the National Weather Serviceâs office at New Braunfels Regional Airport.
For most of Thursday, city, county and state authorities asked drivers to stay home as winds gusted up to 30 mph and made travel conditions difficult on nearly all thoroughfares linking to and from the city.Â
For the fourth straight day after Mondayâs Presidentâs Day holiday, all schools, city and county facilities will remain closed Friday following yet another night of subfreezing temperatures that will cause melted precipitation to re-ice and endanger early morning travel.

Retiring Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Michael Meek was honored Friday night for his civic service as the Chamber announced him the winner of the Besserung Award, often referred to as the New Braunfels outstanding citizen award.
Community and business leaders gathered to hear the announcement during the Chamberâs 102nd annual banquet and awards ceremony at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center.
The name of the winner was kept secret until the moment of the announcement. For the first time in Meekâs tenure as Chamber president and CEO, he did not know the real recipient. With the help of a few clued-in staff and executive board members, the honor came as a complete surprise to Meek.
