More than 23 thousand people have already received the first dose of the vaccine against covid-19 in Madeira, in compliance with a vaccination plan that started with the groups considered to be priority, the Regional Government reported today. Of the total number of vaccines administered [23,301], 15,735 correspond to the administration of the first dose and 7,566 were second doses of the vaccine ”, reads the note released by the Secretary of Health of Madeira. The data released today refer to the period between 31 December, 2020 and 28 February.

Dr Marion Okoh-Owusu, Western North Regional Director of Health Services has appealed to health workers especially newly trained workers to accept postings to the Western North region.
According to her, the Regional Health Directorate had put in place adequate measures to accommodate any health professional who would accept postings to the Region. The Region is in dire need of health professionals and we have resolved to allow anyone who wants to further his or her education after three years .
