Bawumia lauds BoG gold purchase programme

He said the decision was a master stroke in the quest for stronger macroeconomic management and in providing a bulwark for the Ghana cedi. Delivering the keynote address at the 2021 Gold Expo Week in the Western Regional capital,Takoradi last Thursday, the Vice-President intimated that the launch and implementation of the domestic gold purchase programme by the BoG and the Community Mining Programme (CMP) were going to be catalyst for the formalisation of our artisanal small-scale mining sector.

Military brutality in Wa: Culprits will be found, punished - Chief of Army Staff

705 The Military high command has promised to find the culprits of the unexplained attack by some military men on civilians in Wa and bring them to book. The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong Peprah, described the violent conduct by the personnel as unfortunate and unprecedented and would be dealt with according to military law. He said this when he led a high powered security delegation to meet the Wa Traditional Council and also apologise to the people of Wa through the Wa Na, Fuseini Pelpuo IV. Consequently, Maj. Gen. Peprah unreservedly apologised to the people of Wa for the incident.

Ono East NPP, NDC Leadership Commended For Peace-Building

  The Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan, has commended the regional leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their cooperation towards peace in the region. “I am proud and extremely excited to see the NPP and the NDC in Bono East working together peacefully, in resolving the political impasse between them,” he said. Mr Adu-Gyan said peace created an enabling environment for development to thrive and added that without peace it would be difficult for development to progress in the region. Forum The regional minister gave the commendation in a statement issued after a forum in Techiman.
