PRO-7 cop faces dismissal after testing positive for illegal drugs

Published January 1, 2021, 1:12 PM CEBU CITY – The new year is not turning out to be a happy one for a policeman assigned at the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) after he tested positive for illegal drug use, and is now facing dismissal from the service. PRO-7 Director Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo said P/Cpl. Manuel Alconten Paez is facing dismissal from service after flunking a mandatory drug test last December 17. “He is already undergoing a summary hearings and probably, he will be dismissed,” said Montejo.  Paez, 42, has already been transferred from PRO 7’s Police Recruitment Service (PRS) to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit after the filing of criminal and administrative charges against him. 

Police sergeant arrested while selling high-powered firearms

(PNP-CIDG) Police Staff Sgt. Reynaldo Ursulum was arrested along with his companion identified as 21-year old Carvyn Parcon during the entrapment at around 10 p.m. in a restaurant on Doña Soledad Avenue in Parañaque City.   Gen. Debold Sinas, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said Ursulum is assigned with the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas.   He said an entrapment operation was to buy four assault rifles for P500,000 from the suspect. They were arrested while in the act of the exchange.   Seized were four  Bushmaster M4A1 carbines, a PNP-issued Taurus 9mm pistol, magazine assemblies with live ammunition, ID and ATM  cards, and an SUV with license plates JUN 660.

Cebu cop arrested for gunrunning

Senior Staff Sergeant Reynolfo Ursulum, 50, was arrested along with his alleged cohort along Doña Soledad Avenue in Parañaque City Saturday evening, December 12, 2020. Ursulum is assigned at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) in Cebu City, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas said Sunday, December 13. Sinas said the suspects were arrested in an entrapment operation, during which a poseur buyer purchased four assault rifles worth P500,000. Seized during the operation were four Bushmaster M4A1 carbines, a PNP-issued Taurus 9mm pistol, magazine assemblies with live ammunition, identification and automated teller machine cards, and an SUV with plate number JUN 660.
