Public partners UN Development System Although UNESCO is itself an integral part of the United Nations Development System, it is also closely engaged in a wide range of partnerships with the UN’s funds, programmes, commissions, and other specialized agencies of which it is comprised. The 2030 Agenda and the United Nations reform process create a space for the UNDS to collectively optimize partnerships with third parties for the Sustainable Development Goals and for UNESCO to strengthen strategic partnerships and forge new alliances within the UNDS. UNESCO participates actively in all UN Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) mechanisms dedicated to the implementation of UN Reform. At country level, UNESCO engages proactively within the UN United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSCDF) which is a dynamic framework for engagement between the United Nations system and Member States. It embodies the spirit of partnership that is at the core of the 2030 Agenda.

Comesa, partners agree to enhance trade in animal under AfCFTA

THE STANDARD BUSINESS NEWS African countries have embarked on strategies to boost trade in animals and product under the African Continental Free Trade Area  (AfCFTA). A meeting between COMESA Secretariat, member States and other Regional Economic Communities (RECs) discussed the integration of informal trade in animals and animal products into formal trade and access to information on available market opportunities and market potentials within the region. Other matters discussed included trade complementarity and the need for creating value addition opportunities to create diverse markets within Africa and financing the animal resources sector to boost productivity and development of the sector.
