18 new cases, 2 deaths from COVID-19 in Adair County Kirksville Daily Express Adair County’s COVID-related death total hit 15 on Thursday with the deaths of two more county residents. A 63-year-old female who had been on a ventilator at University Hospital in Columbia since Nov. 20, and a 75-year-old man admitted to Northeast Regional Medical Center on Dec. 25 who had been on a ventilator since Jan.1, both died on Thursday.  The Adair County Health Department also confirmed 18 new cases on Thursday, bringing the county total to 1,880. There are 104 active cases. A 42-year-old woman whose case was reported Wednesday was also admitted to NRMC on Jan. 6.

Adair County reports 4 new deaths, 30 cases of COVID-19 Kirksville Daily Express The Adair County Health Department reported four new deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday, along with 30 cases of the virus. On Dec. 20, an 84-year-old male and 64-year-old female passed away. Two 96-year-old females passed away, one on Dec. 21 and one Tuesday. Three of the deceased were in the skilled nursing facility sector, according to a release from the health department. To date, Adair has had seven deaths attributed to the coronavirus.  The 30 new cases on Tuesday bring the county’s total to 1,643, with 154 active. Tuesday’s cases include females ages 10, 17, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, two age 30, 39, 48, 57, 58, 65 and 68. Males are ages 9, 11, 15, 18, 23, 24, 30, 31, 35, two age 40, 49, 50 and two age 61.

Adair County Health Department to administer COVID vaccine next week Kirksville Daily Express The Adair County Health Department has received its shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and will administer the first inoculations on Dec. 21 and Dec. 23.  The department issued that information in a Friday release, which ends up being in line with what Jim LeBaron, administrator for the department, told the Daily Express last week. Adair is one of 10 counties in the state receiving this initial allotment and is getting 975 doses. The health department has been working with frontline groups to determine who will receive these shots. Then, the process will work similarly to the flu shot clinic the department hosted in the fall, where people will drive-through the NEMO Fairgrounds and get their shot.

There are currently 180 active cases, 1,332 people who have left isolation and three COVID-related deaths. A previously identified 79-year-old female was admitted to Northeast Regional Medical Center on Dec. 14. She has not required use of a ventilator. Today’s cases include females ages 8, 10, 19, 20, 22, 25, 26, 31, 32, 33, 34, 39, 40, 45, 48, 50, 56 and 90. Males are ages 24, 29, 41, 50, 71 and 84. Eleven cases reside at addresses with at least one other case. There are two cases each in the higher education and K-12 schools sectors and one case in the skilled nursing facility sector.

The department reported a 60-year-old male was omitted from Thursday’s update, so his addition adds an extra case to the total count.  An 82-year-old man who was admitted to Northeast Regional Medical Center on Dec. 3 has been transferred to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis on Thursday. A 64-year-old female whose case was added Friday was admitted to Cameron Regional Hospital on Thursday. Friday’s cases include females ages 4 months, 13, four age 15, 29, 38, 42, 47, 50, 52, 59 and 64. Males are ages 12, 17, 26, 31, 43, 51 and 53. Thirteen of the cases reside at addresses shared with at least one other confirmed case.
