Gayndah citizen of the year joins regional development body

Premium Content Subscriber only Tireless community champion and current North Burnett Citizen of the Year John Zahl has been invited to join the Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett committee. The retired local government councillor is the current chair of the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO), Mundubbera Bendigo Community Bank Branch and Gunther Aged Care Facility. He was recently named both the Gayndah and North Burnett Citizen of the Year in the 2021 Australia Day awards. Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett (RDAWBB) chair Bill Trevor said he was delighted to welcome Mr Zahl onto the regional economic development organisation.

Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett (RDAWBB) is on the search for the perfect-fit local to represent the region’s interests for the next two years as a Deputy Chair. Being part of RDA, the Deputy Chair will join a national network of local leaders, working with all levels of government, business and community groups to support economic development in their specific region. Also requiring a large network and ability to advocate strongly for the community they call home, not just anyone is made for this position.

Big guns reveal state of the region to business community

Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett Director of Regional Development Scott Rowe will deliver his state of the region address, and will be followed by Mayor Glen Hartwig and Gympie Regional Council CEO Shane Gray. Scott Rowe, Glen Hartwig and Shane Gray will be the guest speakers at the first Gympie Chamber of COmmerce breakfast meeting of 2021, to be held in the newly renovated RSL in Mary Street. Mr Rowe s presentation will cover Gympie s COVID position and recovery, workforce positioning.and emerging economic development opportunities. Regional Development Australia (RDA) Wide Bay Burnett is part of a national network of Committees (funded by the federal government) made up of local leaders who work with all levels of government, business and community groups to support the economic development of their regions.

Councillor reappointed to chair group for another four years

Premium Content Subscriber only Bundaberg councillor Bill Trevor will continue to lead Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett after he was reappointed as chairman for another four and a half years. Federal Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories Nola Marino said she was pleased to announce the reappointment of Cr Trevor to June 30, 2025. “OAM Bill Trevor has provided strong leadership for RDA Wide Bay Burnett during his time as chairman, having successfully steered the committee through the challenges of 2020 and, along with the members and staff, provided great support for the region’s business community and future economic development,” Minister Marino said.
