A MAN who has worked in the Antarctic and Arctic for over 40 years said he feels honoured to have a mountain named after him. Nicholas Cox, from Underbarrow, near Kendal, has been rewarded by the British Antarctic Survey for his services to polar work by having a 9,700 feet high mountain named after him. “I feel very grateful,” said Mr Cox. “I’ve worked in the Arctic and the Antarctic every year for 45 years. Mount Cox, a peak in the Rouen Mountains between Mt Hankey and Mt Hall, is one of 28 new place names marking the 200th anniversary of the discovery of the Antarctic continent.
