LONDON, May 23 : Another 2,235 people in Britain have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 4,462,538, according to official figures released Sunday.
The country also reported another five coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 127,721. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test.

BERLIN – Germany will impose a quarantine on people arriving from Britain due to the spread there of the coronavirus variant first found in India, the Robert Koch health institute said Friday.
Germany is to temporarily ban UK travellers due to the spread there of a coronavirus variant first found in India, the country’s national health institute said Friday.
As of Sunday, only German citizens and residents will be allowed into the country from the UK, after the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) classified it as a ‘virus variant area of concern‘ – Germany’s highest risk category.
Those allowed to enter Germany from the UK will have to self-isolate for two weeks even if they test negative for COVID-19.
Air, rail and bus companies will be banned from transporting all other passengers from the country.
