How Bucks Muslims can celebrate Ramadan in a pandemic

Muslims who will be celebrating Ramadan this year have been reminded to follow the guidelines which are in place at their respected Mosques. The religious holiday will begin on Monday, April 12, which is the same day that non-essential shops, as well as restaurants, can reopen (only for outdoor eating). However, some restrictions will still be in place, and this will affect the way Ramadan is celebrated for the second straight year due to the ongoing pandemic. The Mosque in Aylesbury Dr Rashmi Sawhney, Clinical Director for Health Inequalities at NHS Buckinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Ramadan is an incredibly important time for Muslim communities, and it is a great shame this celebration has been affected again by Covid-19.

By David Sharp and Mariam Fam Associated Press PORTLAND, Maine Islamic leaders are using social media, virtual town halls and face-to-face discussions to spread the word that it s acceptable to be vaccinated for the coronavirus during daily fasting that happens during Ramadan, the most sacred month of the year for Muslims. During the holy month which begins next week, Muslims across the world abstain from all food and drink from sunrise to sunset before typically congregating for evening prayers and iftar meals. The vaccine discussion centers on whether an inoculation amounts to the prohibited act of ingesting something while fasting.
