Among the noble goals of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, H.R. 619, introduced in both chambers of the 117th Congress, is one that has been overlooked: It would help preserve or at least partially restore the integrity of the medical profession.
That is a goal that we, Dr. Kathi Aultman, a former abortionist, and Fr. Frank Pavone, a priest and full-time pro-life leader, are committed to work for.

U.S. Representative August Pfluger signed a discharge petition on April 14 to bring H.R. 629, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, to the House floor for a vote.
The bill would require doctors to give the same level of care to a baby that survived abortion as they would any other newborn. It would also enforce penalties for health care providers who intentionally allow the death of a newborn.

Members of the U.S. House are trying to force a vote on a bill that, according to the nation s largest public policy women s organization, most Americans support.
Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly refused to allow a floor debate and vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would require that abortionists provide medical care for the babies who survive their failed procedures. So U.S. Representative Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) has filed a discharge petition that would force the House speaker to bring the measure to the floor for a vote.

House Republicans are trying to force a vote on legislation that would put in place requirements for the care of infants born after failed abortions, the companion to a Senate bill that failed to pass in 2019.
“I urge my colleagues to stand up for what is right in putting an end to the dangerous, immoral abortion practices that take place daily in our country,”
said Florida Republican Rep. Kat Cammack, who filed a petition Wednesday to force a House vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
If a majority of the House signs the document, known as a discharge petition, it will force the House to consider the measure. However, with the House under Democratic control, even by a slim margin, the discharge petition faces long odds of success.
