Residents to oppose bail for alleged rapist of boys

Cape Town - Langa residents have vowed to follow-through in ensuring justice is served after a 33-year-old man allegedly lured, drugged and raped up to six minor boys in the area recently.
Community structures have now urgently rallied to set-up meetings and petition against the accused being granted bail when he is expected back in court again next week.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said the Bishop Lavis Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit is investigating rape and sexual assault cases after the man, whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of the minors at this stage, was arrested at the weekend.

The suspect, who lives in the same street as the victims, allegedly burned them with a hot iron and battery fluid last Friday. He was arrested two days after the attack.
One of the boys’ thighs and back has visible triangular iron burn marks.
The man has been charged with rape and sexual assault.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the accused appeared in Bishop Lavis Magistrate s Court on Tuesday and the case was postponed for seven days for further investigation.
