Vanessa R.T., Surrey There is a significant amount of confusion in residential communities over what orders apply and how facilities are managed, amid provincial health orders, the Indoor Individual Exercise Requirements issued by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control March 31, and the increased risk of virus spread. There is also a Civil Resolution Tribunal decision that, absent an order from an authority, a strata corporation requires a three-quarters vote at a general meeting to shut down a facility, as it would constitute a significant change in the use of common property or a common asset. Compound this with strata corporations feeling comfortable because they have liability waivers, and we have conflicting practices across the province. What’s the best solution?

New cases rose above 1,200 and hospitalized cases surpassed the 400 mark, which is a concerning new record. Active cases also surpassed 10,000 cases. B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry provided a monthly modelling update presentation today, which included data about cases in schools and at workplaces, and Vancouver Coastal Health also provided an update on cases at Whistler. Modelling update When it comes to geographic areas with most cases, Fraser South and Vancouver remain highest. Henry pointed out that there has been a shift from the northwest to the northeast regions of the province for more cases, which she said reflects the vaccine rollout.

In other news, Surrey RCMP reported that the number of health violations is increasing in the city officers attended five large gatherings at residences and issued 18 violation tickets (a total of almost $17,000 in fines) over the past week. When it comes to LGBT people in B.C., there hasn t been much, or perhaps any, discussion about LGBT+ people and issues during B.C. COVID-19 briefings.
