New case counts may be slightly lower than the weekend but they’re still extremely high, hovering not far from the 1,000 mark.
Meanwhile, B.C.’s immunization program is advancing to Phase 3 ahead of schedule tomorrow, with a new online booking system available (more details below).
Health violations
Controversy arose when two Vancouver restaurants announced that they would defy provincial health orders to close all indoor dining.
In response, Vancouver Coastal Health ordered one of the establishments, Gusto in the Olympic Village, to shut down.
The president and CEO of the B.C. Restaurant and Foodservices Association issued a statement to condemn the actions of these restaurant owners.
More Prince George flights are flying onto the BC Centre for Disease Control s (BCCDC) COVID-19 radar.
The provincial service says a third consecutive flight in as many days during the final week of March connected to YXS was alerted this evening (April 3) for potential exposure.
Air Canada flight 8211 on March 28 from Vancouver to Prince George is the latest on the list as passengers in rows on through five may have come into contact with someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19.
This now means YXS flights, departing or arriving, on March 26, 27 and 28 have been marked for the virus.
It s the fourth March flight flagged for the local airport, the sixth in 2021 and the third on an Air Canada aircraft.

For the first time in several months, B.C. s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix issued a B.C. update on a Saturday.
As case numbers have been on an upswing and after seeing today’s record numbers it’s understandable why they wanted to get an update out over this long weekend.
Travel issues
Once again, Henry and Dix have emphasized that no one should be traveling, unless it is essential.
Yesterday, B.C. Ferries stated that the 11 a.m. sailing from Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island, heading to Tsawwassen, was delayed. CTV News Vancouver Island reported that a passenger aboard the vessel refused to wear a mask, which violates public health orders and the B.C. Ferries policy, and also caused a disturbance.
