Let s talk about sex: A look at sex and sexual health services in the time of COVID-19, according to BCCDC

A survey led by the BC Centre for Disease Control’s Clinical Prevention Services highlights challenges in accessing sexual health services during the pandemic and the potential for virtual care. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact us both personally and professionally, altering the way we work, live and play. Everything from family gatherings, to commuting, to sexual activity and safety, has changed. Many health services, including sexual health services, initially closed or reduced availability during the first phase of the pandemic.

Meanwhile in vaccine news, Health Canada announced today that it has approved the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. On Monday (March 8), people over 90 years of age and Indigenous people over 65 years of age will be able to book vaccine appointments. All other age groups are asked to wait to call until their registration period begins. B.C. update: March 5 B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said, in a joint statement, that there are 634 new cases (including three epi-linked cases) in B.C. today.

B C sees seven additional Coronavirus deaths, 18 new variant of concern cases

British Columbia s COVID-19 numbers have once again risen. In a written statement this afternoon (March 3), Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said 542 cases of the virus were detected during the past 24 hours, bringing the grand total to 75,819.  Of the new cases, Northern Health recorded 44, bringing the authority total to 4,686 since the virus hit the region on March 14, 2020. Officials announced seven more deaths linked to the virus today, bringing the province s toll to 1,372. There are 4,654 active cases throughout B.C. with 246 people currently hospitalized, 64 of which are in ICU or critical care. Dr. Henry revealed there have been 18 new variants of concern cases, bringing the provincial total to 200, with 11 active.
