TUCSON (KVOA) - The family of a 19-year-old Bradley Alexander Lewis, who died in the custody of the Pima County Sheriff s Department, is looking for answers after a statement by the Pima County Attorney’s Office says they continue to investigate the incident. This comes after a PCAO official said no charges were warranted.
Back on Jan. 20, 19-year-old Lewis was reportedly shot and killed by a PCSD deputy, later identified as Gilbert Caudillo, in connection to a report of an adult male attempting to break into vehicles at the 2100 block of Morning Jewel Place near La Cholla Boulevard and Overton Road.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Pima County could soon adopt a new form of justice based on healing instead of punishing.
“It would be a historic first,” said Pima County Attorney Laura Conover.
Conover wants to create a Restorative Justice Program.
“It is a guided program the defendant has to go through a lot of work to show that he or she qualifies and is ready to engage in this process,” Conover said.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Jury trials in Pima County Superior Court and all Pima County limited jurisdiction courts are suspended through March 31.
Presiding Judge Kyle Bryson extended the administrative order on Thursday due to the COVID-19 infection rates, hospitalizations and deaths.
The court is juggling a need to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 while handling a growing backlog of cases.
“If you got arrested today and you wanted your day in court, you would not get a jury trial for at least two years,” said Pima County Public Defender Joel Feinman.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said another inmate at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex has died from COVID-19.
The department said the 47-year-old man died, Wednesday, Jan. 20, after being taken to the hospital a week ago.
The inmate had been in custody since January 2020 on a number of charges, including child abuse.
The department said it is the second death this week, and the only deaths they have had since the pandemic began.
