Lawsuit over 2017 training flight crash is settled

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) The sister of a student pilot who died in a small plane crash in Connecticut in 2017 has settled a wrongful-death lawsuit against the flight school she accused of failing to maintain the aircraft.
Terms of the settlement over the death of Pablo Campos-Isona during a training flight crash in East Haven have not been disclosed. The agreement with the now-defunct American Flight Academy was revealed in a document filed Monday in New Haven Superior Court by the attorney for Campos-Isona’s sister, Marie Matta-Isona.
Messages seeking comment were left for lawyers in the case Wednesday.
A New Haven had to be removed from the city’s courthouse Friday afternoon after he refused to wear a face mask, screamed at court staff and caused a disturbance.

HAMDEN The town and its retirement board are being sued over a July decision to reduce benefits for hundreds of retirees.
The cuts were based on the claim that Hamden for years had paid higher cost of living adjustments than the retirement plan dictated. The town has also has considered further cuts to recoup millions of dollars of alleged overpayments, though Mayor Curt Leng said the Hamden Employees Retirement Board has not made a decision on the matter.

EAST HAVEN, Conn. An arrest has been made in connection to the murder of Lizzbeth Aleman-Popoca.
Tensions and emotions ran high at New Haven Superior Court Monday morning where Jonathan Jara-Aucapina was arraigned for the muder of 27-year-old Lizzbeth Aleman-Popooca. Lizzbeth was found dead on July 15th in a shallow grave behind Lomonaco’s in Branford where her longtime boyfriend Jara worked. She had been missing for two weeks before her body was found.
East Haven Police kept the details of the investigation quiet to prevent tipping Jara off of his inconsistent story. Ed Lennon, Chief of Police stated “He used this story to lie to her family, her loved ones, and eventually law enforcement. Her family basically forced him to report her missing”.
