Carol Miller, R-W.Va., left, joined Fayetteville Mayor Sharon Cruikshank, right, New River Gorge National Park and Preserve Superintendent Lizzie Watts, shown just over Miller s left shoulder, and others for a tour of downtown Fayetteville and its businesses on Monday. Among the businesses the contingent visited were Water Stone Outdoors, The Hobbit Hole, Cathedral Café, Flat Top Fridays, D & K Collectibles and The Pink Pig. During the day, Miller also visited the Alpha Metallurgical Resources mining operation in Pax, and she later made a stop at the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve to visit with park officials there, see new park signage and explore some of the grounds. Miller introduced the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve Designation Act in the House of Representatives, and it was signed into law in December 2020.
