Juneteenth celebration set in Chelmsford Wicked Local CHELMSFORD The town will hold its first-ever Juneteenth celebration, with performances, presentations, and exhibition of Black-owned businesses, and a commemoration of the end of legalized slavery in the U.S.  The event, organized by the town s Diversity, Racial Equity, and Inclusion Committee, is set for June 19,  10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Town Common. Plans to turn Fife hotel into hostel and community hub

Residents will also have the chance to gain qualifications and receive support in finding work. As well as the hostel plans, NHCHF also plans to use the hotel as a community centre. The function suite and bar room area would be used to provide a community hub and network for residents living in Leslie, while the New Hope Community Church would run a foodbank from within the premises.

Faith-based gathering to unite believers

HERMISTON — Area Christians are excited about God’s outreach in the region. To further mobilize the movement, people are invited to attend RE:NEW Gathering with Andrew Palau. A time of prayer, inspiration, worship and unity, the event is Thursday, May 13, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at New Hope Community Church, 1350 S. Highway 395, Hermiston. There is no admission charge, but people are encouraged to reserve a ticket in advance. The gathering will include believers from throughout the region who will learn from evangelist Palau and speaker Jose Zayas.
