Murder accused’s brother warned over disruption of court proceedings PREMIUM

The brother of a Gqeberha man, accused of murdering his wife in front of their four-year-old, has become a topic of discussion for allegedly disrespecting people both inside and outside the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court.

Two suspects were arrested in a house robbery in Kwazakele, while a vehicle was recovered abandoned after a house robbery in Bushy Park last night.
In the first house robbery, it is alleged that at approximately 19:15 in Seaview Road, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) the complainant was at home with his parents. When he went outside with his dog, he was confronted by five suspects of which three were armed with firearms. The suspects forced the complainant back into the house where he was tied up. They demanded money and firearms.
While the one suspect stayed with the complainant and his parents, the others ransacked the house. Cash, cellphones, TV and jewellery were taken. They left taking the complainant’s vehicle, a white Ford Ranger bakkie. On Saturday 24/04 at approximately 01:30 the vehicle was found abandoned on the Old Uitenhage Road. No shots were fire and no one was injured during the robbery. Kabega Park Detectives are investigating a case of house robbery.
The Port Elizabeth Serious Organised Crime team of the Hawks arrested a 22-year-old suspect on Wednesday, 10 March 2021 in connection with an incident where two New Brighton police officials were shot at and their official vehicle hijacked in Kwazakhele in February this year.
Sergeant Wongile Ntengo (40) and Sergeant Sonwabile Litole (31) were going about their routine patrols when they were suddenly ambushed by four armed suspects whilst they were talking to a civilian on the street. The four suspects reportedly approached the marked police vehicle from all four doors and instructed the two police officials to alight.
Following a brief standoff, Sergeant Ntengo has shot on the head and stomach whilst his crew was unharmed. Both officials were then robbed of their official firearms, bullet-proofs, and personal belongings including cellphones. Two men, charged with the murder of e-hailing taxi driver Garrison Snayers, appeared briefly in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The case against Wandisile Gawu and Bathandwa Jabavu, both 25, was provisionally postponed to next week for a formal bail application.
