New Brunswick truck drivers can’t isolate for two weeks because of the impact it would have on the supply chain.
That from Jean-Marc Picard, executive director of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association, on
changes to the rules surrounding self-isolation for truckers and other regular cross-border commuters requiring a modified 14-day self-isolation and pre-registered travel.
Picard said discussions with the government, which started on the weekend, are “ongoing”.
“We want it to be voluntary isolation for the days that you [truckers] are home,” Picard said. “We thought this was not really necessary. No matter how aggressive the variants are, we are complying 110 per cent.”

HALIFAX The much-anticipated Atlantic Bubble is expected to open in just two weeks. It s welcome news for many businesses, especially the restaurant sector, which has been struggling for the last year. There is a sense of optimism. I think the opening of the Atlantic Bubble just reinforces that, that there is light at the end of the tunnel and we re optimistic, we re resilient, we re innovative and we re encouraged, said Luc Erjavec, with Restaurants Canada. The Atlantic Bubble first opened last July, allowing people from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador to travel between the four provinces without having to isolate for 14 days.

A teacher was the victim of a shooting on Riverview High School property Tuesday, the school says.
In a letter posted on its website Wednesday night and attributed to RHS staff, the school refers to an incident that occurred just after 5 p.m. and resulted in a serious but non-life-threatening injury. The victims of this violence are teachers here at Riverview High School, the letter states. Although only one teacher was injured, other teachers were there as it happened or helped respond while waiting for emergency services.
