Affordable Care Act special enrollment period begins Feb. 15
A special enrollment period has begun for those who wish to apply for benefits through the Affordable Care Act
From Feb. 15 until May 15 enrollment and enrollment through a marketplace such as New Mexico s insurance exchange known as beWellnm, is open.
More than 56,000 uninsured New Mexicans may qualify for premium reductions in the beWellnm marketplace.
The BeWellnm marketplace offers financial assistance to those who qualify so that patients can receive low cost or no cost insurance, Maureen Manring, beWellnm’s director of outreach and communication said. All plans cover the 10 essential benefits such as doctor visits, hospital stays, maternity care, emergency room care, prescriptions and more,” Manring said.

Bipartisan legislation seeking to overhaul New Mexico’s liquor laws passed the House Tuesday afternoon, despite an outcry of opposition from current liquor license holders.
House Bill 255 was approved 41-27 and now heads to the Senate.

The bill would create an entirely new license that would allow restaurants to sell liquor without full licensure, change the tax code for existing owners of liquor licenses and allow alcohol delivery under some circumstances.
