UPDATE: Los Lunas Police Department Officer Involved Shooting

By News Editor And Partners • Feb 3, 2021    Valencia County, NM – On Monday, January 25, 2021, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted to investigate a police shooting involving the Los Lunas Police Department (LLPD). State Police investigators learned that on January 25, 2021, at around 8:05 a.m., LLPD officers conducted a traffic stop on a blue Ford Expedition parked near the intersection of South Camelot Boulevard and Morris Road in Los Lunas, NM. As officers approached the Expedition, they observed a male, later identified as Jerry Yalch, 40, of Los Lunas, NM armed with a handgun inside the vehicle. Yalch refused to exit and barricaded himself inside his vehicle. A short time later, Yalch got out of his vehicle and a foot pursuit ensued.

By News Editor And Partners • Feb 3, 2021 Las Vegas, NM - On Monday, January 18, 2021, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was called to investigate an Officer Involved Shooting involving a New Mexico State Police Officer in Las Vegas, NM.  On January 18, 2021, New Mexico State Police officers were actively searching for a wanted male subject who had fled from a traffic stop involving a gray Honda a week prior in Las Vegas, NM.  The male subject was identified as Shaun Kemp (22) of Springer, NM.     At approximately 9:30 p.m., a New Mexico State Police officer who was parked on Garfield Avenue in Las Vegas observed a gray Honda traveling south on Grand Avenue in Las Vegas, NM. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the Honda. The driver refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

New Mexico State Police Unit Arrests Missouri Fugitives

By News Editor And Partners • Jan 29, 2021 Carrizozo, NM - On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, agents with the New Mexico State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit received information from the United States Marshals Service that two wanted violent fugitives were driving through New Mexico. The fugitives were identified as Tracy Brown, 57, and Diana Thomas, 47, both of Bismarck, Missouri.  Brown was wanted for escape from the Iron County Jail in Ironton, Missouri and Thomas was wanted for weapons charges out of Missouri.  The two were driving together in a black 2011 Chevrolet Malibu. After receiving this information, the New Mexico State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, which was created by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in October of 2019 to arrest wanted fugitives across the state, began an investigation to locate these fugitives, and coordinate a plan to safely take them off the streets and into custody.  Due to the violent nature of the individuals t

State Police agents learned that on January 27, 2021, at around 4:30 p.m., the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force was searching for EJ G. Kincaid, 29, of Carlsbad, NM, who was wanted for a parole violation and absconding. A Carlsbad police officer, in a marked patrol unit, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Kincaid who was driving a tan Dodge pickup truck at Mermod and Walnut. Kincaid evaded the Carlsbad officer and a vehicle pursuit was initiated by the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force.
