On November 24, 2020, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted to investigate a police shooting involving the DPD. State police agents learned on November 24, 2020, at approximately 12:47 p.m., a Deming Police Department (DPD) officer observed Lorenzo Aguilera (37) of Deming, sitting in a grey Acura parked at the LA Paloma Del Sol Apartment Complex on Birch Street. Aguilera was known to have a felony arrest warrant. As the DPD officer approached the vehicle, Aguilera fled, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.

New Mexico State Police agents learned that on December 10, 2020, at around 1:47 a.m., the El Paso Texas Police Department (EPPD) was alerted to a burglary of a business in the 8500 block of Alameda Street in El Paso. When EPPD officers arrived on the scene, they encountered a gold Honda Accord driven by the suspect, who was identified as Luis Franco, 28, of Las Cruces, and a passenger. Officers attempted to take Franco into custody but he fled in the vehicle nearly striking an EPPD officer and a pursuit ensued. Multi-Agency officer involved shooting in San Juan County

By News Editor And Partners • Dec 14, 2020 Farmington, NM- On Monday, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted to investigate a police shooting nvolving the New Mexico State Police, Farmington Police Department, and San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.  The suspect sustained fatal injuries.   At approximately 9:23 a.m., the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office (SJCSO) responded to a 911 hang-up call at County Road 3939 in Farmington, NM. When deputies arrived on scene, they met with the victim, who reported her husband kicked in her door and beat her with a handgun. The suspect left the residence in a green Ford Expedition armed with a handgun. An attempt to locate was broadcasted to all state and local law enforcement agencies.
