Hornell, Arkport, Avoca natives receive promotions

LATHAM Major General Ray Shields, the Adjutant General for the State of New York, announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
Caleb Bradley from Arkport, assigned to the Company D, 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, received a promotion to the rank of private first class on Jan. 13.
Hailey Derick from Avoca, assigned to the 827th Engineer Company, received a promotion to the rank of specialist on Jan. 13.
Carrie Edwards from Hornell, assigned to the Headquarters and Support Company, 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, received a promotion to the rank of private on Jan. 14.
Executive Director of the Veteran s Outreach Center, Vincent Scalise, has served his country in the New York Army National Guard for over 23 years. Scalise said his current deployment is one of the most unique.

New York Army National Guard announces area promotions

The New York Army National Guard recently announced several area promotions.
Hailey Derick of Avoca, assigned to the 827th Engineer Co., received a promotion to the rank of specialist Jan. 13.
Jason Clark of Elmira, assigned to the 102nd Military Police Battalion, received a promotion to the rank of specialist Jan. 25.
Gabriel Coats of Horseheads, assigned to the 222nd Military Police Company, received a promotion to the rank of private first class Jan. 23.
Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.
