Newsweek also reported that one of the dissenters filmed dismantling the vigil was heard saying “We could have done worse, you’re lucky I’m just blowing out the candles.” To which the witness recording said “Oh we’re lucky? You have no respect for anybody.” Then the candle-blower responds “Did Daunte have respect for the cop?”

MINNEAPOLIS The funeral for Daunte Wright, the 20-year-old who was shot and killed by a police officer in Brooklyn Center, will be held at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church on Bryant Avene in Minneapolis, according to a news report.
The funeral will take place on April 22 at 12 p.m., FOX 9 reported. It s not yet known if the service will be open to the public.
Rev. Al Sharpton, whose National Action Network group is paying for the funeral expenses, will give a eulogy at the funeral.
But Katie Wright says she’s grateful for the protesters who have been outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department every night since the shooting.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who’s out there, saying my son’s name, hanging up air fresheners,” she says. “And we appreciate that, and we want that to continue because I don t want my son s name swept under the rug like so many have.
During an interview with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, the Wright family was joined by national civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson and California Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
“We must stop the madness of the killing. We’ve become much too violent as a nation,” Jackson said. “No one has the right to kill anybody. Murder is murder. This sin is wrong. We will work with this family until we get some measure of justice.”
