Puducherry reports 1,195 new COVID-19 cases, 11 deaths ANI | Updated: Apr 30, 2021 14:22 IST
Puducherry [India], April 30 (ANI): Puducherry reported 1,195 fresh COVID-19 cases, 654 discharges, and 11 deaths in the last 24 hours, said Puducherry Directorate of Health and Family Welfare on Friday.
The count of people infected with the virus in the Union Territory stands at 58,622.
Out of the total cases, 48,298 people have been discharged after recovering while 805 people have died so far.
The number of active cases currently is 9,519.
The COVID-19 recovery rate of the Union Territory is 82.39 per cent whereas the fatality rate is 1.37 per cent.
India recorded 3,86,452 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the highest single-day spike in the cases since the pandemic began last year. (ANI)

COVID-19: Puducherry extends lockdown till May 3 ANI | Updated: Apr 28, 2021 13:03 IST
Puducherry [India], April 28 (ANI): Amid the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Union Territory of Puducherry on Tuesday decided to continue the lockdown till May 3. The curfew will between 2 pm to 5 am till May 3, said Purva Garg, Puducherry District Collector.
Earlier, the UT administration had imposed lockdown till April 26.
The District Collector informed that 1,500 people are in hospital and 6,300 are in home isolation and on Tuesday around 1000 samples tested positive out of 6500 samples. Because of the increasing covid cases, we have put in place certain restrictions and certain areas where the number of cases are very high we have also set up micro-contaminant zones, she said.

New Delhi [India], January 11 (ANI): The total number of COVID-19 cases climbed to 1,04,66,595 including 2,22,526 active cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.
The cumulative recoveries reached 1,00,92,909 while the death toll has reached 1,51,160.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 18,17,55,831 samples were tested for COVID-19 up to January 10 including 6,59,209 samples tested yesterday.
India on Monday reported daily coronavirus case fatalities below 170 after 229 days, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
As many as 161 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,51,160.
