MANGALURU: A 52- year-old migrant labourer from Gadag went missing after the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) results for Covid-19, taken by him, was positive.
He told the health department officials of the Puttur city municipal council that he had purchased two bottles of liquor and if admitted to the hospital, then he would not be allowed to drink, due to which he fled from the spot.
Shwetha Kiran, senior health inspector, Puttur city municipal council, told TOI that due to the lockdown, the labourer was stranded in Puttur. Since he had been complaining of a headache for the past two days, he was tested on Tuesday. On realising that he tested positive, he immediately escaped from the testing centre. The officials there tried hard to find him, but in vain.
