Parishioners in Hughenden s Catholic Church face a future without their own place of worship, with the town s 1960 s church to be demolished in the next few months.
Key points:
Bishop cites insurance problems and decay, but some parishioners oppose the demolition.
The Church has had a presence in the town since 1885.
The Townsville Catholic Diocese confirmed the removal of the Sacred Heart church on Mowbray Street, which closed in late 2018 after 50 years of serving the Catholic community.

The Knights of Columbus Council 12581 of Frazee, is having their annual fundraising fish fry dinners. The council will be having its first dinner on Feb. 26, 5-7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Frazee. The dinners will be for pick-up only; there will be no dining at the church, according to the K of C Council 12581. The dinners include fried fish, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, bread and ice cream. Dinners $10 each.
