This is the year we kick-start the implementation of the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP). This year marks the Year of Action for Brunei starting with the launch of Protokol Hijau, the minister was quoted as saying by the local Borneo Bulletin daily on Sunday. According to the minister, who is also the co-chairman of the Brunei Darussalam National Council on Climate Change, BNCCP, Brunei s first climate change policy was published in 2020, outlining 10 key strategies to turn the country into low carbon and climate-resilient nation.

January 31, 2021 Lyna Mohamad The Ministry of Development (MoD) have planted 560 saplings around the ministry’s premises since the beginning of the year, with the aim of reaching 2,000 tress by the second quarter, said Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar. He added that the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) planted some 200 saplings on December 31, which he hopes has motivated other ministries to follow suit. The minister, in his capacity as the Co-Chairman of the Brunei Darussalam National Council on Climate Change (BNCCC) at a tree planting ceremony yesterday, believes that climate action is about stepping up, working together and putting the interests of future generations.

January 31, 2021 The Brunei Darussalam National Council on Climate Change (BNCCC) launched the Protokol Hijau, or Green Protocol, yesterday as part of Climate Action Year, by planting 68 saplings at the recreation site of Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge in Kampong Sungai Besar. The event was jointly officiated by Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar and Minister of Energy Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussien, as Co-Chairmen of BNCCC. Cabinet Ministers, deputy ministers, foreign diplomats in Brunei Darussalam, permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries also participated in the tree planting ceremony.

Brunei s electric vehicle pilot project gets the green light

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei Darussalam is set to implement the electric vehicle (EV) pilot project that will start at first half of 2021 for the next two years. In line with the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP), the project will pave the way for national resilience in climate change and low carbon emissions. Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Awang Abdul Mutalib Mohd Yusof launched the Brunei Darussalam Road Safety Strategic Plan 2025 at the Amar Pahlawan Hall of the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) on Monday (Dec 28). He said the project is one of the four latest initiatives and transportation policies in the country, adding that, “similar to the Brunei Darussalam Road safety Strategic plan, the national climate change policy focusses on the principles of achieving Brunei Vision 2035 and promoting security, resilience and economic prosperity through a low carbon approach in preserving the environment”.
