TAMPA, Fla. â Christina Parente is extra cautious during the pandemic. But like many others not yet 65 years old, but with underlying conditions, she is still waiting for a COVID-19 vaccine.
âLife is the four walls of this house,â Parente said.
Thatâs because she says diabetes and a condition thatâs left her with scar tissue in her lungs make her high risk. Years ago, she said pneumonia left her on a ventilator for months, underscoring the importance to her of getting a vaccine.

What s new today? Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to make teachers next in line for the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida. But not all educators will be able to get the shot immediately. The state is hoping to expand its vaccination efforts to include teachers between the ages of 50 to 64 soon. Starting Wednesday, seniors 65 years and older can schedule vaccination appointments in Miami-Dade County at all 31 Navarro stores and all 35 locations of CVS Pharmacy y más. Florida added 7,128 coronavirus cases Wednesday to bring the cumulative total to 1,885,661. With 127 more fatalities, 30,340 Florida residents are now dead.
