CFI ANNOUNCES BOARD CO-CHAIRS

The Charitable Foundation of the Islands recently announced that Chip Roach and Virginia Stringer will assume the roles of co-chairs of the board of directors.
Roach joined the real estate firm started by his family in 1948 in Philadelphia and helped to grow it before selling his interest to his partners in 2003. He retired from active practice in 2007 and became a Sanibel resident. Roach is former chair of the board of directors for Rosemont College, a chamber of commerce, national real estate referral service and the MLS system in the Philadelphia

TALKERS magazine, is presenting an industry memorial tribute to the legendary radio talk show host on May 5 via Zoom. The virtual event will mark the first anniversary of his passing and the 91st anniversary of his birth.
The expansion of services will help students and their families overcome barriers that may keep them from reaching their full potential.
“For our population, it is worth its weight in gold,” Freeman said. “I will tell you that for a lot of my babies, you know, they don t have proper housing. We don t know where they re sleeping at times. And for us to be able to help them receive the resources that they need, it goes a long way.”
At least 13 community partnerships are already in place at the school with that important work continuing with the rebuild. The school will operate core partnerships with United Way, Lee Health and Florida Gulf Coast University.
BIG ARTS awards classical music scholarships

On April 2, BIG ARTS hosted 12 young aspiring classical musicians on the Christensen Performance Hall stage for the BIG ARTS Classical Music Scholarship auditions. The program is meant to assist highly proficient and talented undergraduate students who plan to continue their education and training in the field of classical music. The scholarship may be awarded to up to three students annually in the amounts of $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000. This year’s recipients are pianist Arturo Fernandez, pianist Christopher Tavernier and harpist Isabelle Scott.
