THE number of coronavirus cases has risen more than 60 per cent in Furness in a week. The latest seven-day data released by Public Health England revealed there were 20 confirmed cases in the week ending April 7 - eight more than the previous week. The case rate per 100,000 is 29.8 which is slightly above the national average of 28.7. Seven–day rates are expressed per 100,000 population and are calculated by dividing the seven day count by the area population and multiplying by 100,000. The number of cases is also broken down by ward in Barrow. The areas with the highest number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 are Ormsgill & Hindpool which recorded three new cases in a week and Swarthmoor & Low Furness which also had three confirmed cases of coronavirus.
