A computer-generated image of The Rockery A developer has won permission to build tower blocks up to 24 storeys high at the site of a car dealership. Parkside Investments was given the green light to build 470 new homes at the Crown Honda showroom in Hyde Estate Road, Colindale, at a meeting of the strategic planning committee on Tuesday. The scheme, known as The Rockery, involves knocking down the existing units and building three blocks of flats 20, 23 and 24 storeys high, with 35 per cent of the homes classed as affordable. It will also provide indoor community space, a café, retail opportunities, workspaces and storage.

Famous for his jaw-dropping school assemblies, passionate advocate for education and much-loved Norwich headteacher Juris Zarins made an impact on all who knew him.
To Juris, known as Juri to friends and family, teaching wasn’t just a job, it was his life’s work: his pride in his school, his staff, his pupils and their education shone from him and inspired generations.
Juris Zarins, devoted husband, father and headteacher at Avenue Middle School for 20 years, died on Friday March 19 aged 72.
He had, according to all accounts, tackled his cancer diagnosis with the same upbeat positivity and resolve he had showcased throughout his life.

St Helens is looking to bring forward 654 acres of employment land for development, including 355 acres at the former Parkside Colliery, which is earmarked for 1m sq ft of logistics space but has been called in for review by the Government.
