Ponsford man sentenced on probation violation
Christopher Lee Peake, 32, of Ponsford, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for a probation violation.
According to court records, he is on probation after a felony domestic assault by strangulation charge. On March 21, 2019, he assaulted his girlfriend after she declined to have sex with him after he came home about 1 a.m., woke her up, and was verbally abusive. She got up to leave and he allegedly grabbed her and slammed her onto the mattress, then choked her with his hands, leaving her unable to breathe for about a minute. Responding officers noted visible bruises on her neck. Peake was previously convicted of domestic assault in 2011.

Alexis Danielle Billing, 23, of Park Rapids, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of third-degree controlled substance crime.
The original first-degree charge was reduced in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on Jan. 18, 2019, an inspector with the U.S. Postal Service notified the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force about a package that had been delivered to a Ponsford residence from a suspected meth source in San Bernardino, Calif.
Court news: Probation extended for Lake Park man convicted of wildfire arson
According to court records, fellow Lake Park firefighters started to become suspicious after a sharp increase in grass fires that happened after Michael Gullard joined the department, throughout April and May of 2014.

Probation has been extended for one year for a one-time Lake Park firefighter sentenced in 2016 for setting a number of grass fires in 2014.
Michael Lyn Gullard, 41, of Lake Park, appeared Feb. 25, 2016, before Becker County District Judge Joe Evans, who sentenced him to 13 months in prison, stayed five years. He was ordered to serve 25 days in jail and pay a $1,000 fine plus $285 in court fees. He was placed on supervised probation for five years.
