Updated: 9:20 PM EST Dec 20, 2020 By Tom Lehman The COVID-19 vaccine is viewed by many as a turning point in the pandemic and on Friday, frontline hospital workers in the Susquehanna Valley took the first steps in getting this new protection against coronavirus.There was applause at the hospital after Mark Misczenski received his first dose of Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine. Misczenski says, I feel good, no soreness yet. He is a nurse in the emergency department of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Pinnacle in Harrisburg, a facility that has seen many COVID-19 cases. I m hoping one day everyone can get the vaccine so one day I can come to work and don t have to wear a mask. Dr. John Goldman with UPMC says getting vaccinated is critical for nurses, doctors and other staff.
