Pialago said Friday, March 5 that Duterte is simply too popular to be a lame duck president, or in other words, lose his command or influence as a leader.
“I don’t think President Duterte will have a lame duck phase. His popularity in the latter stages of his presidency is unheard of and speaks of how much he is trusted by Filipinos,” said the MMDA assistant secretary.
“For him to be disobeyed or dismissed by other public officials, even during his last few months as president, would be a huge disrepect to the will of Pinoys,” added Pialago, who was appointed to her current position by Duterte in August 2018.

PIA-NCR, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) accepted M/B Vicente, a 50-seater ferry boat donated by New San Jose Builders, Inc. (NSJBI), in a turnover ceremony held at Guadalupe Ferry Station in Makati today, March 4.
MMDA Chief Benhur Abalos expressed his gratefulness to the NSJBI, headed by its Chairman Jose Acuzar, for the donation that he said is “expected to augment the shortage of ferry boats for our day-to-day operations.”
In a statement, Acuzar said that the NJSBI is honored to be a part of the solution to alleviate heavy traffic.
“The Pasig River Ferry Service is an effective alternative transportation that doesn’t just lessen the land vehicle volume but also promotes the beauty of the historic river,” he explained.
March 04, 2021 DEPARTMENT of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III on Thursday, March 4, 2021, said they will look into the vaccination of government officials using the Sinovac vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Duque said the prioritization framework, which gives healthcare workers first priority in getting vaccinated, should be followed given the limited supply of vaccines.
He said the estimated 1.7 million healthcare workers in the country need a total of 3.4 million doses. The 600,000 doses of CoronaVac, the vaccine developed by Sinovac, can vaccinate only about 17 percent.
President Rodrigo Duterte had ordered vaccine czar and National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr., NTF deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon and Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Benhur Abalos to get inoculated in a bid to boost confidence in the vaccine.
