Members of Congress request investigation of tours that took place 1 day before attack on Capitol

One day after Rep. Mikie Sherrill, a Democrat from New Jersey, alleged that members of Congress led tours of rioters on a reconnaissance mission the day before the attack on the Capitol, 31 members of Congress sent a letter to the acting House Sergeant of Arms, acting Senate Sergeant of Arms, and acting chief of the US Capitol Police asking them to investigate the matter further.
Democratic Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, one of the co-signers of the letter, confirmed to CNN that she saw groups of tours of people in MAGA apparel one or two days before the attack.

1. Stock Futures Rise Ahead of Biden s Spending Proposal
Stock futures traded mostly higher Thursday and Treasury yields rose after a report said President-elect Joe Biden could unveil a Covid-19 relief package of about $2 trillion.
Contracts linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 78 points, S&P 500 futures gained 4 points and Nasdaq futures fell 3 points.
Biden s advisers recently told allies in Congress to expect a price tag of about $2 trillion, CNN reported, citing two people briefed on the deliberations.
Impeachment trial for President Trump can happen even after he leaves office

A majority of the House of Representatives have now voted to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time, just days before he is set to leave office.
This is the first time in U.S. history a president has been impeached twice during their time in office.
Peverill Squire, a political science professor at the University of Missouri, said there are several very unusual circumstances around this impeachment process.
The impeachment will go to the U.S. Senate, where a trial can be held about Trump s role in inciting the riots in the U.S. Capitol, which left 4 dead and several injured.

With seven days left in President Donald Trump’s term, the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives voted for a second time to impeach him this time gaining some Republican support.
The vote was 232-197, with 10 House Republicans joining all House Democrats.
