Second stimulus check: $2,000 payment unlikely; $600 hitting accounts now Updated Dec 31, 2020; Posted Dec 31, 2020 Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Ky., walks back to his office on Capitol Hill in Washington, Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh)AP Facebook Share Chances for a direct payment of $2,000 as part of the COVID-19 stimulus are all but dead – at least for now. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said the Senate won’t pass a coronavirus payment bill as a standalone measure, making it highly unlikely it will move forward. “The Senate is not going to split apart the three issues that President Trump linked together just because Democrats are afraid to address two of them. The Senate is not going to be bullied into rushing out more borrowed money into the hands of Democrats rich friends who don’t need the help,” McConnell said.

Covid Live Updates: Hospital Worker Spoils 500 Vaccine Doses on Purpose, Airlines Ban 1,400 Mask-Rule Breakers

Police arrest pharmacist accused of destroying about 570 Covid vaccine doses A Wisconsin pharmacist was arrested Thursday afternoon, accused of intentionally spoiling approximately 570 doses of Covid vaccine, local police said in a press release Thursday. Police were called to investigate the incident at Advocate Aurora Health Hospital in Grafton on Wednesday after a former employee allegedly admitted to deliberately leaving 57 vials of Moderna coronavirus vaccine unrefrigerated, knowing that doing so would render the vaccine ineffective. Aurora Health said in a press release Wednesday that the situation was a violation of our core values and that the pharmacist had been fired. We continue to believe that vaccination is our way out of the pandemic. We are more than disappointed that this individual s actions will result in a delay of more than 500 people receiving their vaccine, the medical center said Wednesday.

Ted Cruz Keeps All The Money He Raises For His Keep Georgia Red Fund

The Cruz campaign bought 15 separate ads on Facebook over the past two weeks, each featuring a video of the senator dramatically hyping the need to hold two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia runoff contests. … He asked for $5 contributions to his new “Keep Georgia Red fund.” But Facebook users who clicked through to the online donation page and read the fine print at the bottom would see that the actual beneficiary was Cruz’s own campaign committee, not Sens. Kelly Loeffler or David Perdue, the two Republicans running for re-election in Georgia. Cruz may be the worst example but he’s hardly alone in using Facebook ads that target Georgians for campaigns that have nothing to do with that state.
