Duval, Rosenberg, Sommer vie for two open seats on Adams Select Board

ADAMS There are three candidates for two open Select Board seats to be decided at the May 3 town election. ¶ They are incumbent John Duval, and challengers Howard Rosenberg and Donald Sommer. John Duval Duval is seeking his fourth term on the Select Board, having served on it for the past nine years. He previously served on the School Committee for 17 years, and is the vice chairman of the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission. “I really enjoy working with the Select Board and town residents to make Adams a better town,” Duval said. He said the main challenge that the town faces at present is to come out of the coronavirus pandemic with an accurate inventory of businesses that have failed because of COVID-19 and those that survived, so town officials can get started on economic recovery.

That was then; this is now: The impact on business

PITTSFIELD — The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted everything during the past 12 months, and the Berkshire County economy was no exception. As the region’s economy begins to recover, it’s worth looking back at where the Berkshires have been, businesswise, since March 2020. Here is a brief retrospective of some of the events that have taken place. Learning to pivot Berkshire Sterile Manufacturing in Lee uses state-of-the-art technology to produce sterile injectable drugs for pharmaceutical and biotech companies that are in clinical studies for the treatment of diseases. It originally was approached by the federal government in early March 2020, to gauge its interest in helping to develop a COVID-19 vaccine. Instead, the company used its facilities to help clients develop medications for people who had contracted the virus.

BRPC Favors Pittsfield Location, Reduces In-Office Requirements Post-Pandemic

Executive Director Thomas Matuszko informed the Executive Committee that BRPC would be going out for bid for office space shortly with a possible deadline in early October. The offices are off Fenn Street, just a couple of blocks away from Park Square.   I guess one of the things that this committee would be most helpful with for me is getting some input on one of the criteria we had was that we needed to be within a mile, I think, of Park Square and trying to be located in downtown Pittsfield, he said. There are a lot of benefits to that I will say, I mean, when we could meet in person walking over to the City Hall for stuff in Pittsfield was quite easy but I don t know if there s still a desire to do that.
