Troy James O Meara has this morning pleaded guilty to the 1983 rape and murder of 21-year-old Linda Reed almost three years after his shock arrest in a decades-long cold case breakthrough. His plea brings to an end one of the state s oldest cold case murder mysteries, three years after he was arrested by police who are believed to have matched microscopic skin samples found on Ms Reed s body with his DNA. Linda Reed was on her lunch break at Pacific Fair when she was abducted. Ms Reed s decomposed body was found in bushland near Gaven shortly before Christmas more than 35 years ago.
