Southampton Town police arrested a wrong-way driver for DWI along Flanders Road Sunday night.
Police observed Julio Diaz-Lopez, 23, of Riverhead driving northbound in the southbound lane and crossing over the double yellow lines.
He reportedly told police he’d had two beers earlier and an officer noticed multiple open Modelo beer bottles in the front seat and on the passenger-side floor.
Mr. Diaz-Lopez was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and taken to police headquarters, reports said.
• A 24-year-old Flanders man was arrested for DWI following a crash in Hampton Bays Sunday.
Police responded along Montauk Highway after hearing a loud crash and found Edgar Garcia and a passenger exiting a vehicle, stating they had no injuries and refusing medical attention.

Students at St. David’s School in Riverhead are raising money to help keep a beloved educator’s memory alive.
Each Wednesday in May, a group of UPK students set up a lemonade stand at the school, located on Roanoke Avenue, offering lemonade, iced tea and snacks.
According to director Rose Horton, proceeds from the weekly lemonade sale will be used to create a garden in memory of Keri Stromski, who died from breast cancer last month at age 48.

Southampton Town police detectives are investigating a violent robbery that allegedly took place on Pebble Way in Riverside late Monday night.
Police received a call at 11 p.m. from someone reporting an assault. The victim said he was attacked outside a residence by two men wearing face masks, who hit him over the head with a handgun and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.
The victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of injuries, police said.

In its 2021 hospital ranking, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) granted Northwell Health’s Huntington Hospital and Catholic Health’s St. Francis – The Heart Center in Roslyn five-star ratings.
The annual CMS stars program serves as a healthcare guide to hospital quality, comprising more than 50 individual measures that include hospital mortality, avoidable readmission, hospital infections and patient experience.
“We are incredibly proud of the nurses, physicians and so many other professionals who come together every day to provide excellent, safe and compassionate care to our patients and families,” Huntington Hospital Executive Director Dr. Nick Fitterman said in a press release.
