Teenager dies, another injured in single-vehicle car crash – South Coast
Inquiries are continuing into a single-vehicle crash on the South Coast last night in which a teenager died.
About 2:50am (Sunday 7 February 2021), officers from Batemans Bay Highway Patrol were on routine patrol on the Princes Highway at Benandarah when they located a Ford Falcon sedan crashed into a tree and on fire.
The fire was extinguished by police, and a female passenger was located with serious injuries inside the car.
A short time later, officers located the body of the driver, a 16-year-old boy.
The injured passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was extracted from the vehicle about 5am and airlifted to Canberra Hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash on the state’s south coast overnight.

Unlicensed driver caught more than three times over limit on Day 2 of road-safety operation
Unlicensed driver charged with high-range drink-driving after allegedly crashing into parked cars and assaulting police at Panania overnight.
Shortly before 11pm yesterday (Friday 25 December 2020), officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were called to Truscott Street and found a Lexus had hit two parked cars.
The driver, a 55-year-old man was subjected to a roadside breath test returning a positive result and became aggressive, assaulting officers when they attempted to arrest him. The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.179.
